When a Internet service plan is changed, it would be useful to have a pop-up or other warning prior to applying in situations where the current data usage would break the new plan’s CAP.
Hello,
not sure if it’s a good idea.
Where to show the pop-up?
On the Portal? Customers don’t seat in the Portal all the day, probably open it a few times in a month, so it’s useless to show the pop-up there.
Thank you
Hi Nik,
Warning that they’ll be over their usage should pop up in the admin panel the moment an admin tries to downgrade a plan (e.g. from unlimited to a capped one or from say a 2TB plan to a 500GB one).
One of the main points of Splynx is to automate as much as possible as ISP margins are tight. To that effect, we encourage our customers to use the portal to check their usage, change plans and add extra data if they’re on a capped plan.
If f a customer tries to downgrade their plan in the portal (as has just happened today) it should show the alert about them having used more data than the new capped plan allows. No doubt this customer will be contacting us tomorrow morning complaining about slow speeds when the throttle applies as they’re over CAP.
If the user portal correctly displayed the usage per Internet service and it defaulted to the correct start “day” of the month in statistics (as previously requested) then this would be less of a problem. Should be an option (that can be disabled in config) to show the data used since the service start date here AFAIAK.
Alternatively, could there be an option to only allow customers to schedule a plan change on their next service renewal date?
